Under the general coordination of qanun artist Tahir Aydoğdu, musical pieces for the qanun were commissioned during the qanun festivals and symposia held in 2012 and 2015. One of these pieces was composed by TRT Ankara Radio Tar artist and composer Murat Akçay and dedicated to Tahir Aydoğdu. Aydoğdu gave the world premiere of Akçay's Qanun Concerto No. 1 at the 2nd International Qanun Festival and Symposium with the Akademik Başkent Orchestra, conducted by Ertuğ Korkmaz, in October 2015. Later, he gave a concert with the Anatolian Soloists Orchestra, a string quintet in Boston, and in July 2019 with the Macedonian Arco String Orchestra under the baton of conductor Erhan Shukri in Skopje.
